OH my goodness!!! I cannot believe it's already July. My summer break has been going by way too fast! There is so much on my Summer Bucket List left to do.
I couldn't wait to link up with Farley for the July Currently. Take a look.
I have loved watching the Olympic trials that have been taking place these past few days. I don't watch much television, but I loved getting glimpses of the events these past few days. Even my kids loved watching them. My favorite was the womens' gymnastics, while my husband and boys loved the swimming.
With the oppressive heat that is all over the country, what to do to keep my kids from going absolutely crazy?.... We braved a trip to the waterpark. It's called Raging Rivers located along the beautiful Great River Road in Illinois. It was a lot of fun and the BEST part... my kids were exhausted long before it was ever their bedtime. :)
I am thinking I should plan an early morning trip this week to the zoo. The new Sea Lion Sound exhibit just opened up at the St. Louis Zoo on Saturday, and my kids have been asking to go. AND after all... it is on my Summer Bucket List.
We are in DESPERATE need of rain as are most areas of the country right now. As of right now, we don't have any water restrictions so I've been able to water our garden each morning... but I feel guilty also watering our lawn so I've given that up . It's already a lovely shade of brown and it talks back when you walk on it. "Crunch, Crunch".
My favorite class read aloud is Thank you Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco. Actually, I love all the Patricia Polacco books and read many of them to my class throughout the year. She has such wonderful lessons in her books. I always read Thank you Mr. Falker during the first week of school. I've never been able to read it without getting a little teary eyed at the end.
I have several books I've been reading including the Daily 5 and Cafe, but one I really like is Choice Words: How our Language Affects Childrens Learning by Peter Johnston.
Don't forget to link up with Farley with your July Currently.

Hi Krista! I was just awarded the Versatile Blogger award and I'm passing it on to you. I hope you have a wonderful 4th...and a great trip to the zoo.
You inspire me to get back to the classroom and start having my own Make It Mondays! Although, with all these ideas, I might need a Make It Everyday ;)

The St. Louis Zoo is so great. I want to make it over to the Sea Lion Sound, but I think I might wait until it cools off a little. This heat is crazy! My sister-in-law just took her kids to Raging Rivers this week- I've never been!
I think I am going to head to Kohl's later today- I've got some Kohl's cash that is burning a hole in my pocket! haha
