It's too HOT to do anything but go shopping.

So yesterday we set a record in St. Louis for the hottest June day EVER.  It was 108.  108!!!  It felt like we were in the desert Southwest. I'm having Vegas flashbacks minus the pretty lights and all the extras.  It looks like we will be well into the 100's throughout the rest of next week.  It was too hot to even go to the pool so what's a girl  to do?.... Shop!
I'm linking up with Kristen at  Ladybug Teacher Files for:
I first have to admit I do most of my shopping ( aside from groceries) online.  It's not that I don't like to go out and shop, I LOVE to... but with my hubby working 10-11 hours a day and four kiddos, it's just not that easy to do unless I have a G.N.O.  I quickly discovered early on that taking 4 kiddos to a craft store ( or any store for that matter) is complete insanity.

The Daily 5 has been on my mind a lot lately, and when I went into my classroom earlier this week ( when it was much cooler.. only 89 degrees) I spent most of my time preparing my classroom library and finding a meeting area and places to hang the Daily 5 posters.   Here are a few things I purchased to either go along with the Daily 5 or redo my classroom library.

1.  More books ( I'm usually able to get many free books each year through the points I earn with Scholastic.... but I need more).   I found several K-3 and 3-5 book lots rather inexpensively.
 2. Book holders for the Daily 5.....   I found these off of Amazon for about $18.00 for a set of 12.  I taped them to make them sturdier.  We will see how they hold up with one year of use.   I'm thinking that next year I might add a plastic magazine holder to the supplies list for my students ( and take off a couple of other items that aren't as necessary).  If you click on the picture , it will bring you to the Amazon listing of this item.
3. A NEW chart holder... My previous one I have had since I began teaching 15 years ago.  I was in desperate need of a new one.  It will be placed in the meeting area for the Daily 5.  I found this off of Amazon.  The link to this can be found by clicking on the picture.
 4. A new item to add to my writing center ( this is my next project to work on after I have my library updo finished).  This will hold the different papers and items at my writing center.
Since it's all white, I'm going to decorate it to match the theme of my classroom with black polka dots.  I can't wait to put my Cricut to use for this.

5. And of course.... one of the most popular Made It Monday items... the teacher toolbox.  Amber from Adventures of a Third Grade Teacher gave a link to a great toolbox from Amazon.  I can't wait to transform it.  If you click on the picture it will take you to the Amazon link for this item.
6.  I also found some fabulous items on TPT that I just had to download to help me through the next school year.  If you click on the picture, it will take you to the item on TPT.

The Math WorkShop  Board from the Clutter Free Classroom
The Teacher Plan Book and Grade Book also form the Clutter Free Classroom
AND of course I want to say THANK YOU for purchasing my products from TPT... if it weren't for your TPT purchases, I wouldn't be able to purchase these fabulous items for my classroom.  Thank you so much!!!

I also want to say thank you to some very sweet ladies.  Each one so kindly nominated my blog for an award.  You are all so sweet.  Thanks!!  You made my day!!:)

Erin at First with Franklin and Aimee at Pencils, Books, and Dirty Looks awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award.  Thanks Erin and Aimee!!
And April at The Idea Backpack awarded me the One Lovely Blog Award.  Thanks so much!!
In keeping with the rules of the Versatile Blogger award here are 7 random facts about me:

1. I began my teaching career as a Kindergarten resource teacher.
2. I also coached junior high basketball and track my first two years as a teacher.  ( I played high school basketball but had no  talent... This small school was in need of a coach and since I was new.. I got the job.)
3. I am active with our youth at church and teach the 4th, 5th, and 6th  graders.
4.  I feel so much better when my house is clean and my classroom organized.  ( Sad, I know....)
5. My favorite vacation destination is anywhere there is a beach.
6. My favorite treat is chocolate covered strawberries.  My husband buys them for me from this fabulous chocolate shop on his way home from work.  ( I just have to hide them from my daughter because she LOVES them too.)
7.  I have a terrible addiction to Diet Sunkist.  I'm really trying hard to knock this habit over the summer but it's just not working.

Have a fabulous weekend!  I'm keeping my fingers that there is a miraculous cool down in the Midwest that happens over the weekend. I'm also praying for those of you affected in the Colorado wild fires.

I'm off to tend to my youngest who has been sick these past couple of days.  We've been playing lots of games and watching movies.
