November already?!!

Happy Weekend Dear Friends!
This school year is flying by.  Seriously!!!
Didn't it just seem like we were going over rules and procedures
without our kiddos, and now we are in the midst of it all.
I couldn't wait to link up with Farley at Oh Boy, 4th Grade for
the November Currently.

I absolutely LOVE when our house filled with 4 children is calm and peaceful!!  It doesn't happen very often ,But when it happens I am one happy Mama.  No one fighting over toys, arguing over a minor thing.... The Quiet can be pure bliss at times.

I have one amazing husband!  I am so lucky.  It's been a crazy week this week, and he's been working hard to tidy up our home this morning while I've been busy working on school stuff.  Actually as  I type this, he's now working on one of my son's Lego masterpieces.  Our 2 year old loves to seek and destroy these Lego masterpieces.

I cannot believe the holidays are just around the corner.  So much to do!!!  That's why I would love a personal shopper. Someone to go out during this busy holiday season and purchase the gifts, keep a list with amounts for me ( I sometimes forget what I've purchased and even where I've placed things.), AND wrapping the items would be a huge BONUS!

I'm feeling so blessed!  ( What can I say my husband's been cleaning the house and doing laundry and my kiddos are blissfully playing side by side. )  We had several late nights of PTC conferences this past week at school.  It's such a relief to have those out of the way.  It's always nice to get to talk with each and every parent, but those late nights at school are rough!

Our school just recently allowed us to access YouTube in our classroom. It has been blocked in the past. I have been playing this fabulous song my kids request as a brain break called What I Am!  Will I Am!

Onto a Giveaway....  This is one you must definitely check out!  Jennifer at LiveTeachCreate.com is having a giveaway that runs through November 8.  I am donating my Government for Big Kids unit.
Click on the link below to check this out.

AND 1 more thing... I promise this is it.
We've been working on a fairytale/folktale unit in my classroom.  I love using the fairytales/folktales that are at my 3rd grader's reading level. They can be used to cover many common core standards in literature. These are fabulous for compare/contrast, and lessons taught in a story.  Our basal reader has several of them scattered throughout, so I combined them into one big unit for my students, "Fairytale Literacy Unit for Bigger Kids". This 69 page unit includes lesson plans, comprehension questions and graphic organizers tied to the common core for 3 different fairy tales.  It also includes 4 literacy stations/work stations.  My students will be doing these next week.  There is also a fractured fairy tale writing activity as well.  I can't wait to get my students into this next week!  If you want to find out more information click on any picture below to be taken to this on TPT.  The first 3 to comment with their favorite folktale or fairytale will receive this unit free by e-mail. ( Don't forget to include your e-mail with your comment.)

Have a fabulous weekend!!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!!

I would love a personal shopper too! The next couple of months are so busy that would make things a little easier!

I found you your from Farley's Currently. I love the quiet!! I should be cleaning instead of doing this so would you mind sending your husband over to clean my house too.

My favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast. I honestly can't tell you why but growing up that is the book I loved to read over and over.

Christmas shopping! Those two words are stressing me out ALREADY! Best of luck finding that personal shopper! If you find him/her, send them my way. :-)

My fairy tale is Cinderella because there are so many different versions! Can't wait until we are allowed to use Youtube in the schools!

I love Cinderella...so much fun to tie in the variations from around the world. And the spoofs! And if you have older students (I did this in sixth grade) pull out the Grimm version where the sisters cuts off part of their feet to fit the shoe. They love it!

(Hoping I am the third to mention a folk/fairy tale, even if I am not the third overall!)

I have never used YouTube, we don't have access:( My hubby does the dishes occasionally, but he is so good at taking care of the kids when I am stressed out:) I hope the holidays are more fun than stressful for you:)

I love Thanksgiving because it just about about family. I get very stressed about Christmas though- so much to do. My favorite is The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. Love how the pictures add so much to the text.
