A week in pictures

Hi Everyone!
I want to say thank you to all of you who purchased products from my
TPT store this weekend during the Fall Sale!  A huge THANK YOU goes out to Casey
from Second Grade Math Maniac for putting this linky party and sale together.
I was able to empty my wishlist on TPT and make several purchases.  Woohoo!

I LOVE to read posts about what others have been up to in the
classroom especially in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms.  So
I thought I'd share a week in pictures with you.  Here's a little peek about what my sweet 3rd
graders have been up to:

1. Summarizing...  We have spent the last couple of weeks working on summarizing during some of our mini lessons in reading.

We made a summarizing foldable.

I also included a lesson on cause/effect and summarizing with a lesson posted by Amy Lemons using the story " A Bad Case of the Stripes."
2.  Writer's Workshop.  I introduced my students to their writing binders.  They were so excited to have a special place to keep all of their writing information!  I like to begin the year with working on informational/expository essays (after we've gone over complete sentences and types of sentences).  I always introduce this after our yearly Harvest Days field trip.  It's a perfect informational essay for my students to write about. We begin VERY S-L-O-W-L-Y.  I've been working on an informational essay unit to share with all of you that goes through the steps of the writing process with power point presentation mini lessons , writing binder inserts, " Ring of Possibilities" expository essay prompts, and picture books to use with teaching expository essays.
3. Math Workshop-  We wrapped up our unit on addition and rounding.
Here are a few of the stations in action:
4. An entry in our interactive math journals

5. Our Map and Globe unit.  I forgot to take pictures but my students completed their " Student Made World Map" Activity.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  I love your comments!

As we are just beginning a new week and feeling the "rat race" to get everything accomplished while trying to spend quality time with our families and friends just remember this:
