Happy Friday everyone! I am so glad the week is through. It was a crazy day with all of our Seuss activties, and the storm sirens going off. We did manage to have a lot of fun today and learn some new things about Dr. Seuss! Here are a few things my kiddos were working on today....
First the most important thing... THE FISH SNACKS
Then we started off with this cool research activity that I found from TPT. It's created by Mandy Gregory . We did this together as a class, and I used the promethean board to show the different websites about Dr. Seuss. The kids loved discovering the different information about Dr. Seuss. Many of them thought it was interesting to find out that his Mom would lull the children to sleep with rhymes.
My students also practiced and performed "The Doctor" plays that I found from Jen at Teacher's Cauldron. The plays can be downloaded for free here. Thanks Jen! My students had so much fun with this. I also gave them popsicle sticks and construction paper to design their puppets for the play. Unfortunately, this was when our storm sirens were going off ,and we had to go down into the basement for .. a LONG while, or so it seemed. This cut our activity short, but they LOVED performing their plays for the class. The puppets were just put together in a hurry.
My third graders, LOVED hearing the Dr. Seuss books. I read so many of them between activities throughout the day. After reading Green Eggs and Ham, my kiddos did a sequencing activity. I gave them paper plates, and they were to design their own green eggs and ham. Then they had to write about the order to making green eggs and ham using their transition words. A copy of the form can be found here at my TPT store- it's free!!
Have a wonderful weekend! I would love to hear how your class celebrated this day!
