Library Linky and a FREE Classroom resource to use with organizing your library

Happy  Weekend!!!    I hope everyone that's been on spring break has enjoyed their time off ,and those of you just starting your spring break... enjoy!!!  The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here and a chance to reach 89 tomorrow.  Wow!    My hubs and I just finished a 6 mile run, and I'm feeling fabulous.  So watch out!!!  Actually just a few years ago, I HATED to run, but with helping my daughter in the program "Girls On The Run" and my husband's love of running, I finally got into it.  I'm so glad I did.  It's my stress reliever after a tough day at work and with my own Sweeties at home.

I wanted to share  a fabulous library linky with you.  Amy at Literacy and Laughter is hosting a Library Linky.  Link up HERE and show how you organize your classroom library.  There are so many great ways to organize a classroom library.  I love reading about how everyone organizes their library.

Here is a pic of a section of my classroom library.

We use Accelerated Reader at my school.  This influenced how I organized my classroom library.  My library is organized according to the Reading Level of the books.  I also have stickers at the right had corner of each book.  This coordinates with the sticker on the book tub.  The sticker shows what level the book is and helps with students putting the book back in the correct tub when they are finished with it.  I don't have my fiction and nonfiction books separated.  This is something I want to do over the summer.   Amber from Adventures of a Third Grade Teacher posted a few weeks ago about an online library system from Booksource to use with your classroom libraries.  I have just started using this system, and plan on having it fully in place with the beginning of the new school year in August.  It's fabulous and easy. Click HERE to go to the link.

My students LOVE to get comfortable when reading.  In our corner of the library, I have a carpet with a bean bag, a rocking chair, and a couple of director's chairs.  My students love to sit in this corner and read.  Their favorite comfy spot in the library is a director chair my students designed for me this year.  It's so cute!  A parent had purchased a director chair from Pier I Imports ,and then had each of my students secretly create a picture with their signature on the fabric of the chair.  I love it!!!  They were so proud to give this to me at Christmas.   Here's a pic.

Enjoy your day!  I need to get back to family time....

Good for you on your running!! I got up this morning and ran too, such a great way to start the day:)I love your chair! I had a similar one that was made for me my first year of teaching 20 years ago, sadly it fell apart years ago:( Thank you for the resources, my library needs a makeover!!

I only run from tigers and spiders. =)
I tried using Booksource, but a lot of my books come from Scholastic and they have thier own sort of barcoding, so I had to hand enter them. I think I'll have to start over in the summer. Enjoy your break! I'm on mine, too.
