Fortune Tellers and a Linky Party!!

Don't you love to find new blogs?!!  That's my new pastime... blog stalking.  I am SO addicted.  My hubs loves to tease me about this new addiction.  Lorraine over at Fabulous Fourth Grade Froggies is having a Linky Party for grades 3-5.  Head on over and link up.  I've already found some fabulous new blogs I am following.  LOVING all these ideas.  One of my 3rd grade teacher friends/colleague walked into my classroom yesterday and took a look around and wanted to know where I was finding all of the awesome ideas.    THANKS EVERYONE!
Link up with Lorraine's blog HERE.

I just have to share a website with great resources for guided reading and literacy activities in the classroom.  If you haven't checked out the site www.cherylsigmon.com... please do so. Cheryl has posted so many great ideas for literacy centers, anchor charts, and guided reading.  She has many pictures of these ideas as well.  I found this awesome fortune teller to use when reviewing our story in reading this week.  It's reviews elements of a story, and then my kiddos fold it into a fortune teller.  I had to enlist the help of my students for this part of the lesson. Then they were able to review the story with each other using these fortune tellers.  Take a look...

You can find a free print-out of this and many other resources HERE.

Another thing we used this past week to help with summarizing and going over the important events and details in our story is a pyramid foldable.  This can be used for many different things, but my students used it to write 3 key details about what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of their story.  They also had to draw a picture to go wtih each set of details.  Take a look...
To make the pyramid foldable follow these directions:
1. Fold the sheet into a taco.  Cut off the excess rectangular tab formed by the fold.
2. Open the folded taco and refold it like a taco the opposite way to create an x-fold.
3. Cut one of the valleys to the center of the midpoint and stop.  This forms two triangular flaps.
4. Glue one of the flaps under the other, forming a pyramid.
