Five for Friday... AND You're invited to a party in which you could win it ALL!

Hi Sweet Friends!

I really wish the summer would just SLOW down!  I know I've said it already, but goodness time does fly!!  Our first day of school is August 13.  Anyone else begin a new school year around then?

I couldn't wait to link up with Doodle Bugs  for another  Five for Fraturday.  Sorry!  I'm a day late.

1.   My Classroom  Before/and a work in Progress photos

Every teacher in my building had to move classrooms over the summer.  Our 6th grade is moving out to the Middle School, SO we will have more room.  This is my NEW room.  Notice my stack of boxes along the window.     After 4 hours of hard work this past week....my room now looks like this
The boxes are all unpacked, my classroom library is put back together, and I was able to hang the curtains.  Progress!!  I have lots more to do.... but at least everything is now unpacked.  I am LOVING all the storage in my new classroom.

2.  Classroom Decor
I decided not to change the color scheme and pattern of my classroom this year.  I've had the black and white polka dots with yellow accents for the last 2 years.  Maybe I'll change next year....  Here's the classroom pack I created:  "Classroom Decor:  At the Lemonade Stand- Chalkboard and Chevron Themed.

3.  21 Day Fix

I've heard so many awesome things about this program, that I thought I'd give it a try.  I'm on day 5, and I LOVE it.   Summers get so busy that often I forget to eat, and then I'm starving and reach for food I shouldn't be eating.  Especially this summer... I had braces put on at the end of the school year and eating salads and etc has been quite an adjustment for me.

https://www.facebook.com/events/255754681287069/
I am hosting a Jamberry Mystery Hostess Party that begins on Wednesday, July 16 and ends Saturday evening, July 19.  If you love Jamberry, you must stop by and participate.  It's all ONLINE and you can drop by whenever and how often you want at this Fun Facebook Event.  There will be door prizes of Jamberry products and games each day of this event  AND the best thing is someone will be the Mystery Hostess.  This means that ONE of you will be selected to be the hostess at the end of the party and the hostess gets ALL of the hostess rewards and FREE stuff.  How awesome is that?!  I host the party and post games and give away door prizes and one lucky person gets the hostess rewards just for participating in the games, inviting friends to join, and SHOPPING.

I promise it will be fun, and I guarantee you will find some cute nail wraps or nail lacquer to wear for a Back to School Night or Meet the Teacher Night.

Click HERE for the link to this Mystery Hostess Event.  Please make sure you hit " Join" or "Going" so that you get the event notifications and posts when the party starts.  I will be posting more on this event page later this weekend to give more information about how you can be the mystery hostess.  If you share this link with a friend and they "join" the party, please let me know. You can just comment on the Mystery Hostess Event to let me know. You get MORE party points for inviting a friend.

I can't wait!  I hope to see you there!

Five for Friday!!! June 27

As I type this, I notice the date..... JUNE 27!!!!
Oh my goodness!  The summer is flying by AND must  S--L--O--W down.
Does anyone else feel that way?

Okay... I need to quit fretting and get back to my post.

It's another FIVE FOR FRIDAY sweet friends!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching.

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/2003/06/five-for-friday-linky-party-june-27th.html

Here's my 5!!

1. Classroom Colors/Design Change

I am in need of a new updo in my classroom.  I have had the same color pattern and design for a couple of years now and want something NEW.    I found just the colors and patterns that I want to use that will change things a bit, but yet I can still use a lot of what I already have.  Bonus!!  I found these two photos on Pinterest, but when I try to click on them to find the link, there is nothing.  If these are one of your classroom photos, please let me know. I will add the link onto this page.   I LOVE the turquoise blue chevron with the black and white polka dots.  I already have LOTS of polka dots, but wanted something different.  This chevron will be perfect.   Now to find those gorgeous chevron bulletin board borders.....

2.    Word Raider Ipad App
I've been working on items to add to my vocabulary stations  with my 3rd graders.  I found this fun app to add to our station activities on Fridays.  It's FREE!!  Students can select either the easy, medium, or hard level.  Take a peek at the game in the photos below.

3.  94 Seconds I pad App

94 seconds is another great Ipad app that I'm going to add to my vocabulary stations.  It's also a FREE app.  94 seconds has several different categories for students to choose from.  Once a category is chosen, students will be given a letter.  Students have 94 seconds to list as many words as possible that start with this letter and belong in that particular category.  Here's a sneak peek of the game in action:

4.   Summer Fun!
I LOVE all my family time in the summer, BUT this week has been C-R-A-Z-Y between baseball games, baseball camps, and gymnastic practices.    Here's a peek at my family summer fun this past week:

5.  Mail Call
If you've stopped by my blog lately, you know that I am hooked on Jamberry.  I've even taken the plunge to be a Jamberry Independent Consultant.  I am LOVIN' getting the mail these days.  I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of all my FREE STUFF I earned for launching my first party. Woot! Woot!

Enjoy your weekend!

Five For Friday ... June 20

Hey Sweet Friends!

I couldn't wait to link up with Doodle Bugs for FIVE FOR FRIDAY!

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/2014/06/five-for-friday-linky-party-june-20th.html

1.

It's my second full week of summer break ,AND I am loving it.   Things get extremely hectic at the end of the year for teachers but getting to summer vacation is definitely worth it.  I am so thankful that I have a job that allows me to be home with my own kids 3 months of the year, and the rest of the year I get to work with some amazing students.    We've spent the beginning of our  summer break just hanging out at the pool and going to sporting camps and events.  No stress!! Woot!  Woot!

2.

At the end of each school year, I send home a letter to parents giving them tips on things their child can do to help prevent that "Summer Slide".  I even created "My Summer Bucket List" to send home with my students to complete during the summer.    (Click on the photo to learn more.)
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/My-Summer-Bucket-List-Summer-booklet-to-review-concepts-246685
But as a parent helping my own child prevent that "summer slide", I am horrible.  My daughter loves to read and write, so this was never a problem in the summer.  But my 8 year old,  a typical boy, would rather spend his summer from morning until night outdoors.  I know the skills my soon to be 3rd grader needed to work on during the summer, it was some accountability that I needed.  This past winter our school district passed out some information on a summer reading program that would fit the needs of each child.  It is through the Institute of Reading Development.  Click Here for the link.  The program has an online portion in which my son watches a video before either reading from one of the books shown in the photo above, or watches a video before completing some phonetic exercises in his workbook.  He does this 4 days a week for about 20-30 minutes.  He LOVES it!  It helps that my son gets an incentive for completing the lessons for the whole week.

3.  Zoo Phonics

Have you heard of Zoo Phonics?  I'm getting ready to use this with my 4 year old son.  He was so excited to see the different animals that created the letters of the alphabet.  He can't wait to play the letter bingo game that is included.   I first heard of Zoo-Phonics my first year of teaching.  That was almost 17 years ago!!  I was a 1st grade special education teacher.  There was no curriculum of any kind for these little ones.  So I did some research and found this program and ordered it.  It was awesome!  I taught students with severe learning disabilities and these students were able to learn their letters, sounds, blends, and even began to read easy level readers by the end of the school year.

4.
As if life isn't busy enough with 4 sweet kiddos, creating products for my classroom and other educators, and blogging,  I have a FUN, NEW Summer job!  I am having SO much fun while having cute manis and pedis for the summer.   I am a Jamberry Independent Nail Consultant.  Can I just say "LOVE"?!!

5.   I'm probably way behind the times, but have you heard about this?
http://www.ordinarypeoplechangetheworld.com/
My sweet hubs called me yesterday morning from his work excited to tell me about this site he had heard from his morning radio station.  Too sweet! He said as soon as he heard about this he thought about me and my classroom.   Brad Meltzer has a series of  children's biographies about heroes from history.  His message to children is that we can all be heroes.  Currently there are 3 books in this series:  I Am Rosa Parks,   I Am Amelia Earhart,  I am Abraham Lincoln.    If you go to his website: Click HERE or on the picture above, you will find more information and activities that go along with the books along with the links to order these books.  I'm really excited about this.   This would be great to include in my study of Presidents, Black History month, and famous American Women.

Thanks for stopping by!  I would love to hear how you are spending your summer vacay.  Please check out everyone's 5 for Friday HERE.

Five for Friday, Math Workshop Storage FREEBIE, and a SALE

Hi Dear Friends!

Happy Friday!  My principal just sent me our faculty an email and in it was a reminder that new school year begins in just a little over 6 more weeks.  Yikes!  I've been enjoying my summer way too much.

I finished up my Back To School Math Workshop for third grade. I can't wait to use this with my students at the beginning of the school year.  It's a great way for them to start the year working together and reviewing those standards from last year.  This unit includes 4 workshop/task card activities that review the second grade Common Core Standards.  Also included are 4 worksheets to that review the standards as well.  This unit includes a teacher guide that has suggestions on different ways to implement this in your classroom at the beginning of the school year.
The activities included are:

I thought this would work perfectly under my Math Workshop Rotation Board.  So I was on the hunt for wire shelving, I found these from Amazon.  I ordered 2 of them.

Just click on the photo above to find out more about these on Amazon.com.

3.  Math Posters for Math Workshop Storage
I created math posters to be placed on the wire shelving.  I use the MATH acronym for math workshop which is:  Math facts,  At your seat, Teacher time, and Hands-on.  I also created 4 small posters to be placed on the small plastic baskets that are above the wire shelving.  These baskets include the materials that the students need for that particular day's rotation.  You can snag these posters for FREE from my TPT store.  Simply click HERE or the picture above.
