Hi Sweet Friends!
Well, we survived the first full week back from break.
Well, we survived the first full week back from break.
I'm zonked!! Is anyone with me?
My third graders were F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. I can't complain. It's just getting myself and my family back into that daily routine.
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching
for "Five for Friday."
1. Time for Kids Magazine
Our Donor's Choose project was funded right before Christmas. My project was on nonfiction resources for my students which included a subscription to Time for Kids. A H-U-G-E delivery of magazines from the beginning of the year to now arrived this past week. My students were so excited! We broke out the 2012 Year in Pictures edition to do some activities with nonfiction text.
2. Newspapers in Education
Our local newspaper offers free class subscriptions to our school. I sent out the form for this free subscription over the weekend, and already received our first set of papers for our classroom this week. Our office secretary even said the lady hand delivered them to the office. How sweet!
So... you know what this means?.... My head is already swimming with ideas to create a unit on using newspapers in the classroom that is tied to the Common Core.
3. AND this little photo sums up my week at home...
Anyone else every have those weeks? My 3 year old has decided to awake bright and early at 5:30 a.m. every morning this week. Yikes!! AND my boys are suffering from cabin fever due to the rainy weather we have been having. Wrestling in the house.. Running circles around the furniture...NO!
4. NEW Fitness Regiment
I began this new fitness regiment with my friend this past week. The plan includes working with a trainer for a meal plan and work out plan. Can I tell you I was a nervous mess about this whole working out in a gym thing? Seriously.... I don't mind starving to death ( not really this plan is working out great) but P-L-E-A-S-E don't make me use all that intimidating weight equipment. I feel so much more comfortable running outside or on my treadmill in the comfort of my own home.. but I have been forbidden to run. So.. I'm slowly learning how to use this equipment and my anxiety about all of it has lessened a bit.
5. I'll leave you with my favorite quote I found on Pinterest this week. LOVE!
Isn't it SO true?!
Don't forget to check out all the other " Five For Friday" by clicking on the "Five for Friday" link above. Have a fabulous weekend friends!
I hope to be back soon with a post about our perimeter and area unit we have been working on in class.

Krista,
Our lives are very similar right now! My students were awesome this week too! And my two boys at home are driving me bonkers playing football in the house because it is way too cold to go outside and do it! HA! Have a great weekend!

I wish I could day that my kiddos were awesome this week, but I can say that they "tried"! My boys (9 and 6 are early birdies and they are always up at 5-5:30. My oldest "doesn't believe in sleep". Have a great weekend!

Good luck with the gym:) I love going to the gym, just can't seem to find the time, but the hungry part - that I find hard, I love to eat all day long, it's bad, I know. Have a great week.

I love that quote.

It could be worse. My college age sons and my high schooler bring over all their friends and play tackle football in the snow. Let's just say I've seen more than my fair share of blood and broken noses these past few weeks!
I'm looking forward to your newest unit!

Don't you just love Time for Kids? I got a DC grant for them last year too:) This year I wrote on for Scholastic Weekly Reader and was so bummed because I got it midyear and they didn't send me the back issues from the first half of the year. I called them but they said they stopped printing them. It wouldn't have been such a bummer if I didn't expect them to show up like they did last year. Oh well, now I know :(
Good luck with the gym! I started to work out too, but just walking around my school campus after school with a friend.
Love the quotes :)
